FORD TRANS IDENTIFICATION

I HAVE 89 FORD 150 4 WHEEL DRIVE WITH THE 5.8 AUTO TRANS ONT KNOW IF IT HAS C-6 OR OVERDRIVE TRANS PLEASE HELP

I believe the C-6 was out of use by 1989. Your truck should have the Ford AOD (automatic overdrive) transmission. The best way to identify this is to look at the pan shape and number of bolts. NAPA and other parts stores have a comparison chart you can look at to see which transmission you have. I'm 99% sure you've got the AOD, which to my mind is a superior transmission, as it does not require periodic tightening of the bands like the C6 did.
