1988 f150 300 hard to start after driving for awhile

i can start it up right a way first start,after driving for a while shut it off go in to the store come out and try to start it has to turn over about 20 times befor it starts,i have change fuel filter and complete tune up any suggestions

bad starter.is getting hot,that is why it wont start,or timeing is set to high.
