we have 1988 F-150 truck and it gets warm at normal temp. & as we drive down the road it quits running, read on.

we have a f-150 ford truck  1988 & when it gets warm it quits running on us & we don't make it home or any were my husband has to wait about 10 or 15 minutes then we can get down the road a little farther has replaced a few censors, fuel pump,02 censors, & nothing has changed it is still doing the same we can't figure it out everybody is telling us all kinds of story's of what is wrong & we are stumped now, can you HELP? But if we try to take longer trips we have to wait an hour before going any were  it is getting worse please help soon this truck is more then nickel, dimeing, us it is costing us more $$$.  this truck also has a 302 engine 5.0 liter

sounds electrical, have you tried checking you electronic ignition brain box, had similiar problem and then one day it just quit, replaced the box and got rid of problem.

i have this truck and the same problem, i feel it is the ignbition module on the distributor base....i am changing mine so i will let you know...

It's the hall effect sensor in the distributor. It gets hot and fails. Buy a new distributor for $95. Takes hour to replace. Just did it on my truck. It only stalled or wouldn't start when the AC was on and heated up the sensor.
