Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 87 ford f 150 custum with the 5.0 302. I notice when i am going down the highway the engine cuts out for a quick second about every 30 to 40 seconds. I can watch the rpms drop really quick as well. does anybody know what could be wrong.

the first thing that comes to mind is the ignition timing, or the distributor is missing a tooth. but then it would run crappy every other time you go for a drive. hmm, just wondering cuz i don't exactly know about that year as much but is ur truck fuel injected? If so it's the FI system that's the problem.
