Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi my 1986 ford is not starting at grist I
thought it was just over heating or
something because it would do that if I used
alot of gas to get going. But now I think its
the fuel pump whenever I turn the choke on I
can't hear it turn on I have the duel tank and
when I bought it i was told to just use the
one so my question is do i need to be using
both what can I do to solve this problem
other then buying a fuel pump for the one
under the truck??
