I have a 351m in my 1979 ford f150 how hard is it to change to a 302
If you have an automatic it will have to be changed to match the 302 as the bell housing is different, same with a stick shift but you can just change the bell housing on a standard trans and you can't on an automatic, other than that it should drop right in with the right mounts, but after running a 351 you really going to notice the power loss.
Different blocks so different motor mounts, different bell housings, but there are kits out there for swaps like this, and the 302 has a ton of aftermarket performance parts for it. FYI the 351M is a truck motor with tons of low end torque, if you're pulling a trailer that's the motor to stick with.
Agree with the above. Stay with the 351M or upgrade to a 400M if you need the extra power.
