78 F-150 custom straight six/puttering noise

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My old ford was just running about 2 months ago, but now it seems it doesn't want to start. I've replaced the spark plugs and all the wires running to the distributor, the solenoid, and about to give it a new fuel pump. ive tried to start it and it starts to crank, but its just starts to putter and wont stay cranked.

I'm sure your aware that today's fuel doesn't like to sit for a couple months, especially if your running 87 pump fuel. How does the spark look ? Are you getting fuel up to the carb while cranking? Is the choke open or closed or set properly? Have you disconnected the fuel line before the carb and tried turning it over to see if the pump is working? Just use a gas can to catch the fuel if its working. Need a bit more info Matthew in order to help a little more. Process of elimination here.
