dash lights, and running lights dont work

Asked by wcgardner13 Jan 15, 2014 at 09:13 PM about the 1978 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a '78 F-150 Custom and recently after replacing the steering wheel(followed the
directions and did everything right) my running lights and my dash lights no longer
work...is it just a blown fuse or is there something deeper that i need to look into? oddity
is that now my horn functions through my light switch, pull it about half out and the horn
goes off.

One fuse controls them both. You have some wires pinched or crossed from the headlight switch to column.

Did you disconnect the battery before you began the procedure? If not, you probably blew a fuse. Could you have forgotten to reconnect a ground?

If the horn goes off when you turn the lights on, obviously something was not wired back up correctly. Seems you have power to the light switch.
