have an 87 suburban with 96 350, two weeks ago i went to start it and the starter dragged,then there was a slght bang and smoke everywheres white cloud,engine idled rough now i found coolant in oil,trying to find out if i just blew a head gasket or if the engine block might have a cracked water jacket?

87 suburban with 96 350. Two weeks ago I went to start it after driving 52 miles the starter dragged then there was a kinda pop sound and white smoke cloud,just trying to determine if it is cracked heads,blown gasket or if the water jackets cracked...hate to replace head gaskets and the water jackets be cracked..

Sure sounds like you blew a head gasket at least. You can do a compression test to verify, you would find 1 or 2 low cylinders. To find cracks anywhere it would have to be taken apart and manga-fluxed to find small cracks.
