In 1984 the (non-turbo) 229 (231 in CA) was rated at 125hp. Your 1978 would probably have about the same.

did u really hav 2 ask that question cuz u answered ur question in ur question lol, in the 1978 u could go up 2 a 454 crate motor but hav fun buyin 1 cuz they sell quick
