1976 Chevy Malibu Classic

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Recently bought a 1976 Chevy Malibu Classic (2 dr).  350 engine with a 350 "Turbo, I'm told" auto transmission.  I have a folder of maintenance documentation (most recent was 6/2007 for $2300 for various things).  Has new tires on the back and the front will need replacement within a year.  Alignment is dead on.  Upholstery is rough and the dash has one crack where the dash speaker was.

Engine starts right up.  Car needs new plugs and wires and dash lights don't work but, other than needing a paint job, the car runs great.

I paid $800 for it.  Does anyone have an idea of the street value of this vehicle?

Tops, probably $1500, but what you are saying about the upholstery and paint will turn off many prospective buyers.

depending on the condition they can go for as much as 5000 -7500.

If the motor needs rings, a crate motor will drop in for $2500 and rebuild the tranny. On line a 76 Malibu is going between 4 grand to 7 grand in great shape. One tricked out with large tires has an asking price of 15 grand. If the body is in great shape, interior is very good, with the engine needing a rebuild, it may bring 5 grand tops, but take anything over 4 grand. Drop a rebuilt engine in it or a new crate engine and it will fetch 7 grand if it is in top physical running condition.
