1970 Impala Maintenance Costs
I'm getting my first project car, and one of my options is a 70
Impala, hard top 4 door. Ive found one for 2.5k, and I'm told
the car runs well, but needs a new master cylinder for the
brakes. I think this is a pretty good deal, but tell me if it isn't.
Anyway, what kind of costs, in basic maintenance and repairs,
will i be facing if I buy this car? Basically, the general cost and
availability of parts and labor and routine work. Keep in mind
that I plan to use this car as my main means of transportation.
Thanks for any responses.
if it were a 2 dr it might be worth it depending on condition but a 4 dr . ??? what other options do you have , its a heavy car uses a lot of gas for one . it might be better as a parts car , which engine is in it ? 70 was the last year for high compression engines , if you can buy it just for the engine and tranny that would be a plus if the price is right say around a grand. then find a 2 dr chevelle or nova without an engine and you have a nice project, then when you're ready to sell it ,you'll get more for it than you ever would from a 4 dr. good luck .
Thanks guys. I've put this option on the backburner, and am broadening my search to see if I can't find a better project car.
