Could it really be my fuel pump? I started it up last

So did it start when you jumped it? If it did then it could just have been a weak battery. A bad fuel pump won't keep an engine from cranking. If your engine is not cranking and you get a single click then nothing, then the problem is likely with the starting circuit. Get the battery checked first then go through starter circuit.

Your ignition switch just drop steering column look for purple wire make sure alls tights and maybe just change the switch
