Gas type

Asked by Mar 24, 2018 at 06:10 PM about the 1968 Chevrolet Caprice

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just recently purchased a 68 caprice and the owner
didn’t tell me much about it. I want to know what kind of
gas should I put into the car? Also does it need a zinc
additive for the oil?

Use the highest octane you can, most cases 93. Try to find ethanol free. Not sure on the other additives you can use

Does it ping on regular? If so use a higher octane gas. I would use a zinc additive in the oil and a lead substitute in the gas unless the engine was rebuilt for unleaded gas.
