1984 red rag Tuned port 350 auto what is the common running temp? Mine runs at 210 and up sometimes

50,705

Average temp. If your concerned, check with the service people to see if it is above normal. Some engines are designed to run hotter that the old fashioned 180 degrees for emotion reasons. Maybe a thermostat change will help, flushing the radiator, checking the radiator hoses that can collapse over time, and making sure the leaves, twigs and cats are removed from the front of the radiator. The sensor also may be giving incorrect readings. Remember, the calling system is under sealed pressure, and that reduces the boiling point of the coolant, and it will not boil until it gets to a higher temperature. If it stays at 210 unless in heavy street traffic in mid summer with the A/C on, it should not be a problem.
