Not exactly sure when VIN #'s became standard practice but I am sure that there was a 1971 Celica sold in the US. It was the first year it was offered. It was an 1971 Celica ST powered by a 1.9 liter engine.

They do a VIN#. I have one that was bought in TN. They were distributed from Jax., Fl. They originaly offer a lifetime warranty. I still have the orig. window sticker. It's a great running car. You are right though, this was the first year offered in us. The sticker reads 2692.00+dealer prep/shipping146.50. I bought it from the original owner. Most engine parts are avail. but others not so easy. Glad to share any info
