is the transmission gear box interchangeable between 4x4 and 2 wheel drive on a 1987 4runner?

my 1987 toyota 4 runner 22r 5 speed transmission wont get in gear i can only hear
grinding noise, there is a 2 wheel drive transmission abaliable, can it fit in my 4runner?
also can a transmission out of a 88 3.0 4x4 4runner fit the same truck?

these questions should be asked to a better source. never trust the net 100% a good source is the parts recyclers they have volumes of parts interchange data.
