how to replace positive battery cable

You might be lucky enough to just have to replace the end terminal, not the whole cable. Don't cut yourself too short on cable. If you do replace the whole cable, take note of where it connects to the starter solenoid and possibly the power distribution box or whatever. Also note that the end terminal for the positive is larger than the terminal for the negative. Get the right one.
