there is a scratching-type noise when i push in the clutch

Is it a rotating noise or something rubbing when the pedal moves?
I would say it is more of a rubbing noise. I know this is dumb, but back in the day when you would put a needle on a vinyl record you'd hear that scratching before the song starts. I liken it to that
That could be some pivots and bushings need lubrication.

If the scratching noise happens only when you have the clutch pedal pressed it's likely to be the throw out bearing. This is part of the clutch and pressure plate that links your engine to the transmission. Repair is pretty involved and this bearing is typically replaced whenever the clutch is replaced. If it starts getting louder, it may be time to replace the bearing and the clutch.
Thank you. I put in a new clutch maybe 5-6 years ago. At the time I drove a lot, but now only under 10 miles to work everyday. That's been the pattern for the past 3 years. I don't drive far at all. I can't fathom a big auto repair bill.

Hopefully they changed the throw out when the replaced the clutch. As long as it doesn't get louder or start screeching, it should be fine.
I have a 2001 S-Runner and the clutch return spring up under the dash was making a squeaking noise ! You could try lubricating that to see if it helps too

I have a manual 2016 Tacoma and does make the same sound from the clutch when pressing. I have taken to the dealer and they do not want to fix anything because they do not know what that is... what should I do?
