When I tried to start my car my key seemed stuck it turned once but wouldn't start. Can I fix it myself?

I tried turning the wheel left and right,
holding the break while trying to start
it, tapping the key with a hammer
while it was in the key hole, and put
wd40 or whatever that oil stuff is in
the key hole. Nothing's worked so
far.. These were all suggestions from
friends. I can take my key out it just
won't get to the "on" part. I really
need help and I'm not sure I could
afford towing it and taking it to a
shop :(

If it was my car, I would take the VIN # to the dealer and get a new key cut. I can't imagine why your key wouldn't work. There's this stuff called powdered graphite. Maybe try that in your ignition before calling the dealer.

I have a 2012 Camry SE. It has sat awhile and the battery had died when I tried to start the car. I charged the battery and now rests at 12.5v. Now when I go to start the car there is no power at all to the inside of the car. No gauge lights come on when you turn the key, but the steering wheel can be turned and the car cannot be shifted into neutral. I checked all fuses, including the long ones that house the alternator, all check out fine. I used my dmm and I have power to alternator and starter. Security light is on inside the car. I have tried all three keys I have for the car with no avail. 3 Answers
