My Toyota has no camshaft position sensor, how do I turn the check engine light off?
I have a 1998 Rav 4 with a Japanese engine
exchanged out by the last owner about 40k miles
ago (by a shop called Japanese Engine Exchange
.) The Japanese engine doesn't have the normal
camshaft position sensor. (Still researching what
it has instead.) The car starts and runs fine, and
emissions are within legal range, but the check
engine light is on.
I just moved to a new county where this is now a
problem during an emissions test, when it wasn't
before. What do I do? The engine isn't tapped and
capped. The old sensor itself is just sitting there
taped up. The shop won't even bother testing
emissions until the light is off.
Can I bypass the sensor to the check engine light?
Can I rewire that circuit into whatever existing
system.the engine has?
