1998 Toyota Camry

camry 4cylinder overheating
put a new thermostat in and over heated right away as if the thermostat did not open
put two in same results
then took out and ran with no theromstat and no issues
could this be a sensor
or possible water pump

Does it overheat when you're sitting still or driving at speed? If it usually only overheats when you're sitting still but cools down some when you start going faster, the radiator fan(s) are to blame.

If there is smoke coming from radiator cap replace the cap. I replaced my thermostat and water pump come to find out I was just losing pressure out of my cap.
