remove door handles to access power window motors

Asked by tommarin Dec 10, 2007 at 02:21 PM about the 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the door panels pretty much removed. But the door handles are holding me up. I need to get into to check the power window motors. 1999 Land Crusier.

You'll probably need to find a hidden screw which is usually located in the door handle cup area. That, or sometimes you actually need to maneuver the door handle around as you gently remove the door skin. On my sister's Jeep Grand Cherokee, for example, the door handle stays in place. Only the cupped trim piece behind it gets removed and it is pulled out as you remove the panel.
