1999 Toyota corolla transmission

To give you more of the back story.... I
had a new CV axle put on the front
passengers side but the axle installed
was for cars with ABS. 99′ Toyota
corolla.. NO ABS, Automatic 4 cylinder.
Car moves into all gears fine when you
step on the gas car moves for a bit but
then comes to abrupt stop. If you try to
gas it to move again it just revs up as if
there is a big log in front of the car
preventing it from moving. I’ve been told
that this is a differential problem in the
tranny and that the new axle was at fault.

Looked around online and seen where
someone was having the same problem
but stated that it may be due to lack of
differential fluid. Should I have the tranny
rebuilt, get a used one or is it possible to
just replace the differential What are your
thoughts ?

goodlawdamercy! A Toyota Corolla is a simple machine and should just run with no problems! of course things like brakes or sometimes CVs will need replacing, but you have been "asking" the wrong people, sounds like- you have been "told" a lot of things most of which sound expensive- who are these people? find another mechanic, somebody good, and get a second opinion-

Toyota Transmission diff have washers behind the gears if the axle was stuck in Diff .very doughtful I'd have to see it .i would get a used one if depends If your going to keep the car! Used one maybe ok but no warr on labor Of you get a used one taken a chance. Hope you get a good one.

Bro the 3 speed transmissons come with two diffrent fluid sections one for the cv axles/diff and one if for the actual transmisson
