Oil pressure sensor location

Asked by May 22, 2017 at 12:24 PM about the 2006 Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Where is the oil pressure sensor located on
a 2006 Camry?  I figure I must replace it
because when the car has no oil in it, the
dash light doesn't come on. The dash light
does work though.

What engine in this vehicle?

It is a pressure sensor not an oil level sensor.

2.4 Liter 4 cyl

Shouldn't a light on the dash come on when the car is basically out of oil?

49,375

If the oil level gets low enough it will cause the oil pressure to fall thus turning on the light. If the oil level gets low enough to cause the pressure to fall, engine damage can occur. Your best bet is to monitor the oil level by using the engine oil dipstick. Do NOT rely on the low oil pressure light to tell you when to add oil, that is NOT what it is for.

Do you remember receiving a notice from Toyota concerning ...Excessive Oil Consumption? Are you the original owner of this Vehicle? Mileage on this vdhicle?
