My chevy s10

My 1991 chevy s10 starts good. Once s on starts shaking
and battery gauge g goes lower than half. I step on gas and
runs ok. But when i take gas pedal off it shakes again like
wanting to shut off. Any ideas please?

How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? Maybe a throttle body kit will help? It should have all the instructions for idle and everything. Some older hi-mileage vehicles, I adjust the idle in drive, so the vehicle is driveable, will not stall every time you come to a red light or stop sign. Yes, when you put the transmission in park or neutral the engine races. The world isn't perfect. If the engine compression isn't very good, it will probably never idle correctly? Just my opinion.
