1992 Chevy Cheyenne: Possible fuel pump problem

Asked by GuruV9B7P Aug 01, 2018 at 12:50 AM about the 1992 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Truck will run but will die like it stops getting fuel.
Sometimes the truck will start back up and keep
running and sometimes I can't get it to turn over.
When this happens I dont hear the fuel pump kick
on. Could this be my problem? Or is it something
else? Ive already checked the filter and its good to
go.

My dodge did the same thing i changed the fuel pump it still did the same thing I started to investigate the wireing from the fuel pump to the front of truck. I got half way up and found a broken wire that went to the fuel pump I put the wires back to gather it started rite up and kept running. The symptoms were the same it would start some times and run for Abt 5 seconds then stall. Sometimes it wouldn't start at all. U have a voltage problem it probably the ground wire that goes to your fuel pump.

I couldn't hear my fuel pump ether it was because it was getting low voltage from the broken wire. The fuel pump was coming on but not enough for me to heir it.
