Chevy problems

Asked by Mar 11, 2018 at 11:03 PM about the 1996 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

With a brand new battery and alternator,
my battery will slowly drain down until I
have to jump it to start it. Twice now I've
replaced both batt and alt which lasts for a
month or 2 then slowly i can tell the battery
is losing its charge. My biggest problem is
that it's not just drained and that's it. Every
time the truck sits for an extended period
of time, such as overnight, the battery
seems fully charged and starts just fine but
if I drive to the gas station and shut it off
then the restart seems to lag until one day
it has drained the battery too much and
then I need a jump.
