1998 gmc 454. Motor siezed up. Need to replace
the short block but I can't find one. Can I use an
older style out of say a 70s model truck.

    the transmission has never been worked on in previous years; in other words the transmissions linkage has never been messed with or any parts replaced just regular maintenance fluid changes.
