99 Chevy S10 4 cylinder manual, head gasket

Asked by Jul 08, 2018 at 11:49 AM about the 1999 Chevrolet S-10

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck will turn over but not start.  When it turns
over, a tiny stream of water shoots out of the
engine head underneath a bolt, and the car stops
turning over.  Before this happened, I was having
problems getting the truck to start, sometimes it
would die at idle, and would backfire occasionally
while shifting.... Is this a blown head gasket?
