my truck runs rough regardless if it is cold or hot.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Chevy s10 truck 6 cyl,  I have replaced a starter, alternator, hub bearings, and the fuel pump and replaced the gas cap. The check engine light still comes on. I am apparently doing this as a process of elimination. What else could be doing this??? It is actually a 3 door 6 cylinder 4.3 motor

The process of elimination is NOT a wise idea. You could possibly be spending time and money on things not necessary. Actually, you might save money and get your car running better than ever by taking it to a professional. How many miles are on your vehicle?

First you need to get the vehicle scanned for any trouble codes. This will let you know what to look at for repair. It may even come up with a Mass Air Flow Sensor fault that I was going to suggest cleaning because of the rough idle. To clean the MAF you need to use the appropriate MAF spray cleaner.

Rowefast- YES, good idea, or replace the MAF. There's no such thing as an old tune-up anymore.

Thank you I have around 117k on the truck I did go to auto zone to have it scanned this is what all they said was wrong with it But I will be taking it to a real mechanic with a more in depth machine this is getting to expensive
