Honda Frv diesel ignition problem

Hi , when trying to start my Frv diesel the car ignition lights come on but not
the glow plug light and the key light flashes , after sometimes turning the key
20 odd times the glow plug light comes on and the key light stays on and the
car starts , very frustrating , is it the key or a software issue ?
I have listed it as a Crv because Frv isn't listed
