Starter keeps going out

I had a full size bronco that would also eat starters, I went through 3 rebuilds and 2 brand new ones in 2 years, so I put on a high performance gear reduction starter, still had that starter when I sold it 3 years later. Just make sure your not loosing voltage in the cables before putting on any more starters. I added additional ground straps from engine to body and frame as this seems to be a weak point on those older Broncos and Trucks.

Also, check for damaged or missing teeth on the flywheel as well as the proper starter drive to flywheel ring gear clearance. HTH. - Jim

This is a 2.9 do they make a gear reduction for it?

Crappy rebuilt starters might be the problem. Buy a quality one and your problems might be solved.
