can i put a 2004 3.0 in a 2007 ford escape

No the one engine is for 2001 to 2004, the later from 2006 to 2007. The 2006 and 7 there are two different engines for them years, water pumps on one drives from the intake cam and one drives from the exhaust cam, even these engines are not interchangable.
