David, is there a positive battery post under the hood for jump starts? Some cars with hidden batteries have them.

Well, now tenspeed, now I have conflicting information. I got that answer from wikianswers but at: https://www.fleet.ford.com/2006/maintenance/owners_manuals/results.asp ...is a free pdf download, and shows the battery itself under the hood. I tend to go with the latter and my first answer is wrong, as this link is the owners manual published by Ford. It would not allow me to upload an image of the open hood, but there it was sure as shit, under the hood right in front. That other post I put up first must be for another year, the gasoline version, or the dude didn't know what he he talking about

Yeah. Sure enough, there were the two batteries and an exterior positive terminal under the van. (We had the manual, but were trying to find something under the hood that looked like the illustration. The manual didn't say UNDER THE VAN, just behind the passenger door. Duh, there is the side door.) Now about GIVING a jump start. In my experience you use both the positive and negative terminals of the live battery in giving a start. But under our van there is no negative terminal, just a suggested place to hook onto for the negative grounding in receiving a jump. So would hooking onto just some part of the chassis work as the negative terminal for the giver? Thanks, S. Savage

Yep. Any good, solid steel part of frame or body will work as negative on either/both vehicles

Just to be clear. Do the negative and positive need to be connected from the battery of the persons that giving the jump start ?

In my 2005 Ford e350 ambulance, the batteries are located just past the driver's door on the outside inside a sheet metal case. You open this up, and slide out the batteries and should see 4 6v. 2 power your engine, and 2 power the inside.
