Brake lights blow fuse

Asked by NoviceMomMechanic Mar 18, 2015 at 07:39 PM about the 2006 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son's 2006 F150 keeps blowing no. 2 fuse for turn signals and brake lights. Fuse
blows when you press pedal. Changed stop light switch but that wasn't the problem. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

The brake pedal works like the light switch on your wall. When you flip it on, if there is a short, you complete the circuit and blow the fuse. Visually look for a shorted wire in the wiring to the tail lights. If nothing found you'll meet a multi meter to check. Begin at the tail lights and check backward. A wiring diagram for the vehicle would be of great assistance.
