I have a 1966 Mustang automatic. When I push on the gas it sounds like a Japanese motorcycle. Does anybody know why? This is a new car to me and the previous owner said that they sometimes do that. It's weird. Any ideas?

No they don't just "sometimes do that" The seller told you a whopper on that. Trouble is It's difficult to form an opinion without actually hearing it but could be vacuum leak, exhaust leak or valve tappets.. A 289? A very fine engine that should purr. Not sound like a Japanese bike

Yes, he told me that it's the transmission that sometimes sound like that. It revs high and sounds like a dirt bike when you step in the gas. It's embarrassing to hear that coming out of your car. Lol I have a 55 Tbird that has a 292 and it purrs just fine.
