Is it a 1968 or 1969 Camaro?

Asked by PapaJ May 10, 2014 at 05:45 PM about the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro

Question type: General

I bought a Camaro @ auction.  The seller said it was a 1968.  The title listed the car as a 1968 but when I ran the VIN# it came back as a 1969 Camaro.

What is the sixth digit in the vin? 7=67, 8=68, and 9=69. I would go by the vin# because typist are known for making mistakes on titles.

Also check the eight - fourteen digit in the vin&title. (Model build numbers) 1967 model build numbers started with (100001). 1968 started with (300001) and 1969 started with (500001). So if eight digit is a 1 it was built in 1967, if it's a 3 it was built in 1968 and if it's a 5 it was built in 1969.

The sixth digit in the vin # is 9 & the eight digit # is 5 so with this info I would say the car is a 1969 camaro. Thanks everyone for the help on this.
