73 Chevelle SS with landeau side windows and a quarter vinyl top.
I had a gold SS with a tan quarter vinyl top and landeau side windows which
are different than all the 73's I've seen. They are regular on 74's it seams.
Under the landeau windows it had a tag that said "Chalet". I traded it in in
1976 and have never seen another one in all the years I have been
searching. Did I have a one of a kind ? The closest thing I ever found was a
laguna but they have the different front end.
Google "gm heritage center" and you can download, for free, the complete dealer information book (121 pages) for the 1973 Chevelle. I skimmed through it and don't see a "Chalet" mentioned. But if you had one, I'm sure it's mentioned in the information. Even if it was a special order or dealer installed option package I'd think it would be in there. HTH. -Jim
Thank you Jim, I'll check that out!
You're welcome. Glad to help. -Jim
I have 73 Chevelle with chalet small window car but removed top n plates n now has big windows. I thought mine was the only one.
Thank you! I guess my question now would be why would you change it since it is so rare? Maybe you have the car i have been looking for all these years. Did you save the landau windows and badging?
My mother bought a 1973 Malibu Chalet used in 1975 at a dealer ship in Anchorage (AK), the dealership said it was originally bought in Whitehorse. Like you i have searched on/off about that car (drove it in high school and loved it!!). It had a vinyl roof with landau windows. In the inside woodgrain plastic inserts were used to fill the cavity of the larger windows. On large bumps one of those kept popping out.
