my 69 chevelle starter has a grinding sound

just wondering if i need a new starter or what to do to stop the grinding sound when turning

if it happenss once in a while, you might have a tooth missing on your flywheel, otherwise the bendex might not be kicking out all of the way. It is only 5 bolts to pull the starter out and get it checked.

its starts but very heavy grinding sound when cranking up. but not after its on

it sounds like its partally ingaged. it might be bad. i hate to say it but also check your flexplate. you may have to change them both.

My 1969 chevelle need to find clearance between flywheel teeth and starter bushing.
