92 toyota 4x4 3.0

Asked by Aug 12, 2017 at 12:58 PM about the 1992 Toyota Pickup

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok well got a 1992 toyota 3.0 sat up over a year. It's
losing power, seems to be throwing fire where it
shouldnt, (touch places and get shocked that
shouldn't shock you), it can sit for a while then
crank up. It gets hot and won't even stay idling. You
can spray carb cleaner by the fuel injection and it
will stay idling. Done changed fuel filter, plug wires,
coil, mass air Flo, air filter, throttle pos
sensor....kinda lost now. When it does idle on its
own but get in to dri e it put it in gear to go and it
loses power and barely moves. Need advice

I'd start with a fresh battery, and new cables too, chassis ground and engine block both must be there~..and the red to the solenoid can get green with corrosion...so check that too~...as far as errant spark...please buy yourself some silicone rubber high resistance ignition wires~ 92 may still have a distributor cap....check the rotor if entirely solid state, check all connections including vacuum for spark advance~
