I'm looking at getting a nice loud exhaust(big bore) for my corolla, but am wondering if i would be better just getting a muffler on it?

Just get the one called out for it, Just go to the parts store, sometimes they have listings of performance mufflers that are louder than OEM but quieter than those other stupid looking & sounding big bore things.
