When the weather is bitter cold, that affects cars dramatically. The chemical action in batteries is greatly reduced so the starter doesn't get as much electricity and it turns slower. Oil thickens and reduces the spin of internal parts causing more resistance on the oil. Moisture, wherever it is, causes blockages, most troublesome is in fuel where ice blocks flow of gasoline through everything; fuel pump, lines, and even the injector system. Best thing you can do to rectify the trouble you're having is to get a tune-up that includes a review of your entire charging system. And get a battery that offers greater power, especially in cold cranking amps. You might also consider an engine block heater, or at least an automotive grade electric blanket.
