accelerate problem

I am using 2003 Toyota matrix  but any time I step
on the accelerator  the car  does not go faster at
times to the extent that the accelerator will be
down but the will not be moving at all.what is the
problem with my car.

have the computer scanned for codes. it sounds like a possible gas pedal position sensor.

If its and automatic when was the last time you checked the fluid. You didn't say if the engine is reeving up but if its reeving up and still slow or no speed check trans. level. Low fluid will get you this problem. I have an 03 vibe gt which is the same as matrix but mine is a stick shift, but daughters car did same and found out she hadn't check trans in over 7 months.
