just picked up a 1992 loyale wagon with 243,000 miles. Can anything be done to slighly increase the 90hp these beasts have, with out compromising engine?

Any increase in power will result in increased strain on the drive components... The ones that increase strain the least would be thoose helping air in and out of the engine so... Intakes and exhaust systems are the safest bet.

Do you think it would be worth adding an K&N air filter and maybe a slightly larger exhaust system? Would this decrease gas mileage? Thanks to whoever knows a little more...

any performace fliters such as K&n wil give you a small raise on HP as for a larger exhasut its will increase power if and only if it is not to large it will cause a lose of back pressure and will decrease power and cause back fire...and its has to befree following eg.. not to many tights bends both of these will decrease gas mileage sorry to say...

You could start by removing the engine fan and putting an electric fan in, upgrade the coil an spark plugs, Make the outlet pip from the muffler bigger and run the lowest octane your car can handle, for ea82 motors is 87, Cause you get more toque.
