$1300 repairs on a 20-year old Subaru—worth it?

I have a 1999 Subaru Forester with 176k miles. I need $1300 worth of repairs:
a new right side drive axle and one new ball joint, plus a few other minor
things. I've always planned to keep getting the repairs and drive it into the
ground, but just wondering what everyone else thinks. Over the past five years
or so, I've had the head gasket replaced, new alternator, new rear axle. I realize
I couldn't get a new (used) car for $1300 in which I know the full history of the
car, and better the devil you know...? But it's SO OLD....

This is your choice. I would say it is a toss up. If the car is in really nice shape and you love it you might want to go for it.

I wouldn't put that kind of money into a used Subaru, but that is just me and it isn't my money.
