2004 Subaru Forester won't start and won't idle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Subaru Forester. It will try to turn over but won't start. I was told to try a cleaner in my gas tank. Thought it worked but a couple days later same problem. I had to hold brake and gas pedals at the same time to get home. Cause when I come to a stop it won't idle. Just dies. Please help!

Look into changing the fuel filter first, then work into having the injectors professionally cleaned. Watch cheap gas stations to with water gas...

Lots of potential issues here, inc the water temp sensor and idle control valve. Best to take it to a good Subie wrench rather than guess from afar. I wouldn't clean the injectors FIRST, but replacing a fuel filter and maybe spray-cleaning the throttle body are cheap quickies that might solve problem.
