Thinking of buying a 2005 Subaru sedan

Asked by Dec 27, 2017 at 11:56 AM about the 2005 Subaru Legacy

Question type: General

I am thinking of buying a 2005 Subaru sedan the
chassis has 220,000 miles on it, with a rebuilt
engine that has 20,000 miles on it. I'm not
incredibly familiar with rebuilt engines. Should I be
concerned that the chassis has 220,000 miles on
it?

Make sure the price is right. Subaru's can go a long way but 220,000 is still a lot of miles.

2005 Is a goofy "mongrel" year in that although the chassis and body are all new, the motor and funky exhaust are holdovers from the 2000-2004 era except for the use of FIVE O2 sensors! 2006 saw the onset of a simpler, better motor and exhaust/emissions pkg. IOW getting proper diagnoses and parts for 2005 can be difficult. I'd hold out for an '06-'09 if all else is similar value.
