Car will turn over; however sounds as though it isn't getting fuel, I may let it set for an hour and it will start. This may go on for 2 weeks, then it's fine for 6 months. any ideas?

When ever I put gas in my car and I go to start it up it hesitates to turn over and sometimes starts then boggles out and turns off. Any other time I barley have to touch it to turn over
