93 grand prix spark issues. coil pack? module?

Asked by kramer419419 Mar 10, 2014 at 08:02 PM about the 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

93 grand prix 3.1 engine. i suddenly lost spark to two cylinders both on the same coil
pack. i put a new coil pack on and still no output from the new coil. the other 4 cylinders
are running fine. i tried another new coil pack but still no spark. could the module fail on
only two cylinders? could the crank sensor fail on only the two dead cylinders allowing the
other 4 to run fine??  stumped.

Have you checked both spark plugs and both plug wires for that coil. The wasted spark system is a beast, if one fails you'll loose spark in both. If that isn't the issue then try the ICM. It won't be the crank sensor, it either fails completely or causes random weak sparking.
